The Awaken Christian Lions's three-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They came out on top against Founders Classical Academy by a score of 41-29. That's another feather in the cap for Awaken Christian, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Awaken Christian had a senior duo take command as Alahna Payne dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds and Phoenix Sharp dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Sharp has scored at least a third of Awaken Christian's points. Katelynn Montello was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six steals and two blocks.
Awaken Christian's win ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-6. As for Founders Classical Academy, they bumped their record down to 0-8 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road.
Awaken Christian will face off against Needles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Needles is coming into the game hot, having won their last 16 games. As for Founders Classical Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against GV Christian at 5:30 p.m. Hopefully GV Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 34 on Tuesday.
