The Simon Kenton Pioneers's 22-11 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell 56-44 to Lloyd Memorial on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Simon Kenton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while Lloyd Memorial is ranked 22nd).
Despite the loss, Simon Kenton had strong showings from Jay Bilton, who scored 15 points along with two steals, and Brayden Polly, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Bilton hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Bode Stone was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Simon Kenton's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-10. As for Lloyd Memorial, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4.
Simon Kenton on the road again on Friday and play against Walton-Verona at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. Walton-Verona has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 628 points over their last eight matchups. As for Lloyd Memorial, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Campbell County at 7:30 p.m. on January 10th. Campbell County will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
