Basketball Recap: Lowndes Extends Home Winning Streak to 20

Lowndes had won 19 straight home games dating back to last season and Kaci Demps did her part to make it 20 on Saturday. The Lowndes Vikings took their game with ease, bagging a 71-42 win over the Valdosta Wildcats thanks in part to Demps, who posted 22 points and eight steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game.

Another player making a difference was Shamiaha Webb, who earned six points along with eight boards and three blocks. She has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last six times she's played.

Valdosta's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jhakiah Battles, who put up ten points and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Battles a new career-high in assists (three). Lauren Bloom was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Lowndes' victory bumped their record up to 13-1. As for Valdosta, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lowndes will square off against Thomasville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Valdosta, they will challenge Colquitt County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
