Sadly, the Lordstown Red Devils are still looking for their first win of the season after 20 matches. They fell 31-20 to Memorial on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Lordstown of the 33-25 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Memorial to victory, but perhaps none more so than Yaleiska Diaz, who scored eight points along with six steals. Another player making a difference was Angeliz Diaz, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Lordstown's loss was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-20. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.6 points per game. As for Memorial, their victory ended a eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-18.
Lordstown didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-23 loss vs. Mathews on the 12th. Memorial has also already played their next match, a 30-17 loss against East Palestine on the 12th.
