After soaring high against Westside last Friday, Icarus fell to the ground on Friday. Cedarville took a 28-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mountainburg. If Cedarville were hoping to take revenge for the 12-26 loss against Mountainburg the last time the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Sophomore Ethan Gregory, who rushed for 142 yards and 2 touchdowns, was a major factor in the success. Additional support came from defensive powerhouse senior Austin Wakefield, who racked up 14 tackles.
The loss dropped Cedarville back to even at 1-1. The win got Mountainburg out to a 1-0 start for the season.
Cedarville will look to defend their home turf next week against Bigelow at 7:00 PM. As for Mountainburg, they will face off against Greenland.
