It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Sylva Bay Academy Saints had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They really took it to the Lions for the full four quarters, racking up a 55-21 win on the road. Sylva Bay Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 matches by 21 points or more this season.
Sylva Bay Academy found their leader in underclassman Cash Pickel, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. Brody Boyd was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Sylva Bay Academy has been performing well recently as they've won 16 of their last 19 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season. As for Laurel Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-17.
Sylva Bay Academy is on the road again on Tuesday and plays Tunica Academy at 6:30 p.m. on February 13th. Hopefully Sylva Bay Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday. Laurel Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face West Memphis Christian at 4:00 p.m. on February 13th. Laurel Christian is facing West Memphis Christian at the right time seeing as West Memphis Christian is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
