The Fairfield Indians struggled with offensive rebounds on Monday (Mount Notre Dame had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Fairfield received a tough blow as they fell 60-46 to Mount Notre Dame. Fairfield has struggled against Mount Notre Dame recently, as their game on Monday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Myka Richardson and Kayla McCoy certainly did their best on Monday to try and avoid the loss. Richardson scored 13 points along with six assists, while McCoy scored 14 points. Richardson scored a full 28.3% of Fairfield's points, the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Kimberlin Samples was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Leading Mount Notre Dame to victory were Mia Veith and Kailee Bransford. Veith scored 14 points along with six rebounds, while Bransford scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Hofmann, who scored 11 points.
Fairfield now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Mount Notre Dame, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairfield will take on Sycamore at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sycamore is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Mount Notre Dame, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Seton at 7:30 p.m. Seton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 217th, while Mount Notre Dame is ranked eighth).
