Basketball Game Preview: Kenston Bombers vs. North Rangers

The Kenston Bombers will head out to take on the North Rangers at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Kenston is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest defeat since December 7, 2024 on Saturday. They lost 60-38 to Chagrin Falls. The Bombers' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Kenston's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Morgan Cicek, who posted 13 points, and Trinity Osterman, who had nine points. What's more, Cicek also racked up four assists, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Kait Paystrup was another key player, putting up three points.

Meanwhile, North came tearing into Wednesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 48-44 victory over the Wildcats.

Kenston better keep an eye on Kaitlin Dobida. She was instrumental in North's win, posting 25 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. The game was Dobida's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Alex Hamilton, who put up seven points and six boards.

Kenston now has a losing record at 7-8. As for North, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Kenston has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like North struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.2 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Kenston didn't have too much breathing room in their match against North in their previous matchup on January 4th, but they still walked away with a 46-41 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kenston since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
