Baseball Game Preview: Bishop Machebeuf Buffaloes vs. Lyons Lions

Bishop Machebeuf is 0-3 against Lyons since March of 2022 but things could change on Thursday. The Buffaloes are taking a road trip to take on the Lions at 4:00 p.m. Bishop Machebeuf will be strutting in after a victory while Lyons will be coming in after a loss.

Bishop Machebeuf was handed a 12-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They skirted past Estes Park 4-2.

Miles Edgar was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Bishop Machebeuf: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 17 runs the game before, Lyons was a bit more limited in their game on Saturday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Highland. The loss continues a trend for the Lions in their meetings with the Huskies: they've now lost three in a row.

Jake LaCrosse was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

LaCrosse wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Zack LaCrosse, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases.

Lyons now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Bishop Machebeuf, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Bishop Machebeuf has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lyons struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Bishop Machebeuf suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Lyons in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Buffaloes avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
