The Independence 76ers were the 88-45 winner over the Briggs Bruins when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Independence had to suffer through a rough 83-49 loss at the hands of Briggs. Independence was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-24.
Several 76ers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ahmad Diagne, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. Those eight rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Amari Williams was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Independence still hasn't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4. As for Briggs, their win bumped their record up to 1-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Independence will face off against Africentric Early College at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Briggs, they will head out on the road to face off against Walnut Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Walnut Ridge will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
