Mike Mercado and Derek Ross provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Christian Liberty Academy. The longest such play in Northeastern this season, the connection resulted in 79 yards.
Alden-Hebron/Faith Lutheran moved up to 389 from 429 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Green Giants climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Christian Life 16-14.
Hiawatha's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Hawks feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Mercado has thrown for 1061 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Ross has 25 catches for 443 yards. Dakotah Quimby leads the league in rushing with 358 yards.
A big matchup in Northeastern this week will be when Mooseheart takes on North Shore Country Day. At the moment, the Red Ramblers are in third, while the Raiders are in second.
There should be lots of points scored when Hiawatha and Luther North face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Hawks comes in having scored 128 this season, while the Wildcats have scored 26. Hiawatha scored 20 points last week as it bested Christian Liberty Academy.
Marquette extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Luther North, 40-6. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.
