The Battle Creek Braves put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Wakefield 58-34. Given Battle Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Wakefield is ranked 191st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sami Wemhoff was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tylar Humphrey, who scored 12 points along with 5 rebounds.
Battle Creek's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Wakefield, they have fallen quite a ways from their 17-8 record last season and are now at 1-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Battle Creek will challenge North Bend Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wakefield, they will head out on the road to face off against Bloomfield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
