Woodlan has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the South Adams Starfires at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Woodlan will be strutting in after a win while South Adams will be coming in after a defeat.
In what's become a running theme this season, Woodlan gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They blew past Fremont 59-38. The win was just what Woodlan needed coming off of a 61-40 loss in their prior contest.
Woodlan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Taylor Kneubuhler, who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds. Kneubuhler is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last nine games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Anderson, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
South Adams might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 52-46 to Fort Recovery, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. South Adams has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, South Adams had strong showings from Macy Pries, who scored 25 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, and Liz Gerber, who scored 11 points along with three steals. That was a full 54.3% of South Adams' points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Woodlan has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for South Adams, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.
Keep an eye on the arc in Saturday's game: Woodlan have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 5.2 threes per game. It's a different story for South Adams, though, as they've been averaging only 1.9 threes per game. Given Woodlan's sizeable advantage in that area, South Adams will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything went Woodlan's way against South Adams in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as Woodlan made off with a 59-36 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Woodlan since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
