Highline is 0-10 against Renton since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Highline Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the Renton Red Hawks at 7:15 p.m. Highline has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Highline scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 67-18 win over Tyee. The win was just what Highline needed coming off of a 91-64 defeat in their prior game.
Highline relied on the efforts of Marquawn Mccraney, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and seven steals, and Corey Crosby, who scored 22 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Those seven steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Simpson, who scored six points along with three steals.
Renton has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 31 points or more this season. They blew past Evergreen, posting a 95-36 victory on the road. The victory was just what Renton needed coming off of a 97-71 defeat in their prior game.
Highline's win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-4. As for Renton, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Highline was taken down by Renton 83-29 in their previous meeting back in January. Thankfully for Highline, De'rai Taylor (who scored 33 points along with four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
