On Friday, the Smyrna Eagles faced the St. Georges Tech Hawks in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Smyrna came out on top against St. Georges Tech by a score of 48-35. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Smyrna's six-point performance the contest before.
Despite the loss, St. Georges Tech still got an impressive performance from Camron Montgomery, who rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns. Jayson Askins-Brooks also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Smyrna's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for St. Georges Tech, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Smyrna will head out on the road to face off against Sussex Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Sussex Central will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. St. Georges Tech will take on Cape Henlopen at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Delaware (Cape Henlopen is ranked eighth, while St. Georges Tech is ranked 15th).
