Despite the loss, Winthrop College Prep Academy saw an underclassman step up: Kai Brookins scored 20 points. Brookins has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Jason Johnson was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
McKeel Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alex Sessoms, who scored 19 points along with four blocks and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Axel Acevedo, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds.
