Given Fairfax HomeSchool's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while Covenant Christian Academy is ranked 311th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why Covenant Christian Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ryan Candland. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Candland pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Marvin, who scored six points along with five steals.
