The Austin Catholic Crusaders had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell just short of Bethany Christian by a score of 52-49.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bethany Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Clayton Beachell, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathaniel Byers, who scored 19 points.
Austin Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Bethany Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Austin Catholic will take on Parkway Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bethany Christian will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Faith Christian at 6:15 p.m. on December 12th.
