The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Fort Collins in their matchups with Monarch: they've now lost four in a row.
Fort Collins' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Alcaraz, who scored 20 points. Alcaraz has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times she's played. Jocelyn Kramar was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Fort Collins struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Monarch racked up 15 assists.
Monarch's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sienna Williams, who almost dropped a triple-double on 12 points, 11 rebounds, and nine blocks. Williams is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Weiss, who scored 22 points.
Fort Collins' defeat dropped their record down to 11-3. As for Monarch, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
Fort Collins will be playing in front of their home fans against Brighton at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Brighton is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Monarch, they will head out on the road to challenge Horizon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Horizon presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Monarch in Colorado (Horizon is ranked tenth, while Monarch is ranked 55th).
