The Mainland Buccaneers will stay at home for another week and welcome the Vanguard Knights at 7:30 p.m. on December 1st. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Mainland had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against Sebring on Friday as Mainland made off with a 35-14 victory. Mainland's victory was all the more impressive since Sebring was averaging only 10.25 points allowed on the season.
Meanwhile, Vanguard waltzed into Friday's game with four straight wins but they left with five. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lake Wales 52-15 at home. Vanguard's victory was all the more impressive since Lake Wales was averaging only 9.15 points allowed on the season.
Fred Gaskin continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 210 yards and four touchdowns on only 16 passes. Another player making a difference was Jermaine White, who gained 83 total yards and two touchdowns.
Mainland pushed their record up to 12-1 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.7 points per game. As for Vanguard, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.
