Munford and Covington are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2021, but likely not for long. The Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Munford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Munford took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Millington Central a 10-0 shutout. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cougars considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Harper Seiler was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Kate Billings, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4.
Seiler wasn't the only one making solid contact: Munford kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Millington Central only managed three hits.
Meanwhile, Covington didn't have quite enough to beat Brighton on Tuesday and fell 8-7. The defeat continues a trend for the Chargers in their meetings with the Cardinals: they've now lost six in a row.
Bella Crook put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off six hits. Crook was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Crook wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kinslee Hamm, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another was Lyv Cromwell, who scored a run and stole a base.
Covington's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Munford, they now have a winning record of 9-8-1.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Munford hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. However, it's not like Covington struggles in that department as they've averaged .367. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Munford beat Covington 13-10 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Chargers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
