Softball Recap: Southern Guilford Has No Trouble Against Atkins

Southern Guilford won the last time they faced Atkins and things went their way on Friday too. The Storm were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Camels. The Storm might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by ten runs or more this season.

Kenly Brown made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Brown was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one double.

In other batting news, Kylie Misenhiemer was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Baylie Inman, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Southern Guilford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Southern Guilford has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Atkins, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.
