Bay City Western is 1-6 against Lapeer since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Bay City Western Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Lapeer Lightning at 7:00 p.m. Bay City Western has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 182 points over their last three matchups.
Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Bay City Western beat Gaylord 58-52.
Meanwhile, Lapeer was the victim of a tough 69-48 loss at the hands of Carman-Ainsworth on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Lapeer can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 441st, while Carman-Ainsworth is ranked 142nd).
Bay City Western has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-9 record this season. As for Lapeer, their loss was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-11.
Bay City Western beat Lapeer 53-41 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bay City Western since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
