The Research Triangle Raptors lost against the East Wake Academy Eagles back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Research Triangle fell 62-53 to the Eagles. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Research Triangle in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost three in a row.
Research Triangle's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cade Wiggins, who scored 20 points. Wiggins has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Omar WIley, who scored 19 points.
Research Triangle has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for East Wake Academy, their win bumped their record up to 10-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Research Triangle will take on the Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Franklin Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matches -- so hopefully the Raptors like a good challenge. As for East Wake Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Phoenix at 7:30 p.m. Raleigh Charter has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5.
