The Strom Thurmond Rebels fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Aiken Fighting Green Hornets on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 52-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fighting Green Hornets. Strom Thurmond lost against Aiken in their previous head to head back in December of 2019, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 73-51 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Strom Thurmond lost, one person who can't be blamed is Darrian Hendrix. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with four steals. Hendrix is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Roosevelt Walker, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds.
Strom Thurmond's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Aiken, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Strom Thurmond will be home for the holidays to greet Saluda at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Saluda is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Aiken will be home for the holidays to greet Dutch Fork at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
