The Clifton-Clyde Eagles won the last time they faced the Washington County Tigers, and things went their way on Saturday too. Clifton-Clyde came out on top against the Tigers by a score of 46-33. Given Clifton-Clyde's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Tigers are ranked 154th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Clifton-Clyde to victory were Shea Wurtz and Sevy Wurtz. Wurtz scored eight points along with six rebounds and six steals, while Wurtz scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Wurtz hasn't dropped below 15 points for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Lillian Steinbrock, who scored seven points along with two steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Clifton-Clyde and bumps their season record up to 13-3. As for Washington County, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Clifton-Clyde will play host again and welcome the Buffaloes, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Washington County, they will head out on the road to take on the Rams on Tuesday.
