The Jefferson Academy Jaguars lost against the Colorado Academy Mustangs back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The contest between the pair wasn't particularly close, with Jefferson Academy falling 59-45. While losing is never fun, they can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 185th, while Colorado Academy is ranked 15th).
Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jimeto Orji, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Mendez, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Colorado Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was George Buyers out in front who scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Clyde Love, who scored nine points.
Jefferson Academy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season. As for Colorado Academy, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson Academy will face off against Forge Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Forge Christian is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games. As for Colorado Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Eagle Ridge Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Aiden Wanrow and Jason Bratis.
