Northside Christian is 2-8 against Delaware Christian since October of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Lions will be taking part in a tournament against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m.
The home team had won the previous four meetings between Northside Christian and Tree of Life Christian, and Tree of Life Christian kept the tradition alive. The Lions fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 3-2 on Thursday.
While Northside Christian ultimately came up short, they really made Tree of Life Christian work, particularly in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 28-26, 19-25, 23-25, 15-9.
Meanwhile, Delaware Christian came into Monday's match having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Danville 3-0 on Monday.
While Delaware Christian won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-10, 27-25.
Delaware Christian found their leader in freshman Achaia Marquis, who had three digs and three aces.
Delaware Christian was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 18 aces. That's the most aces they've posted in their last six matchups.
Delaware Christian's win bumped their record up to 7-16. As for Northside Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's contest: Northside Christian has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 12.2 aces per game. However, it's not like Delaware Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
