The Garaway Pirates will challenge the West Holmes Knights at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The last three games Garaway has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Garaway will bounce into Saturday's contest after beating Strasburg-Franklin, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Pirates narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Tigers 7-6. That's two games straight that the Pirates have won by just one run.

Annabelle King spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Audrey Miller was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted over her last ten games. Another player making a difference was Keaton Yoder, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Garaway kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in eight consecutive matchups.
New Philadelphia hit West Holmes with a four-run seventh inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Knights took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Quakers.
Briar Cline put in work while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, she gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest she's had since back in April. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Emma Miller made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run. Zalina Proper was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Garaway is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. As for West Holmes, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season.
West Holmes' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Garaway has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.9 hits per game. It's a different story for West Holmes, though, as they've been averaging 9.7 hits. Given Garaway's sizable advantage in that area, the Knights will need to find a way to close that gap.
Garaway might still be hurting after the 13-7 loss they got from West Holmes in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Pirates avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
