Baseball Recap: Richfield Gets the Win

Richfield hadn't done well against Washburn recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Spartans' pitcher stepped up to hand the Millers a 10-0 shutout. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by seven runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Jayden Anderson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Matthew Popp, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Richfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Richfield now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Washburn, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Richfield will face off against DeLaSalle at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Washburn, they will head out to square off against Minneapolis South at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Millers 3.8, the Tigers 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
