Ridge View has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on The Richland Northeast Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Ridge View is ranked 48th, while Richland Northeast is ranked 64th).
After only six points in their last contest, Ridge View made sure to put some points up on the board against Westwood on Friday. Ridge View simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Westwood 40-0 at home. The result was nothing new for Ridge View, who have now won five contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Ridge View can attribute much of their success to Tre Howard, who threw for 130 yards and two touchdowns while completing 90% of his passes, and Breylon Boyd, who rushed for 41 yards and a touchdown. Jayden Andrews got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Richland Northeast fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They really took it to Lugoff-Elgin for the full four quarters, racking up a 48-21 win on the road. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Richland Northeast just coasted through the last quarter.
Their wins bumped Ridge View to 6-2 and Richland Northeast to 5-3.
Ridge View was able to grind out a solid win over Richland Northeast in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, winning 41-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ridge View since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
