The Spring Grove Rockets''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 35-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Western. While losing is never fun, Spring Grove can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 294th, while South Western is ranked 131st).
Spring Grove's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Cowan Ruhland, who rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 210 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Kayleb Allen, who picked up 96 receiving yards and a touchdown.
South Western got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Bryce Graham out in front who threw for 208 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Declan Smith, who picked up 101 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Spring Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for South Western, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
Spring Grove does not have any more games scheduled as of now. South Western will be playing at home against Greencastle-Antrim at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
