There's no place like home for the Carver Tigers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 61-48 victory over Columbus on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for Carver, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Carver found their leader in underclassman Jakobe Caslin, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Tony Montgomery was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds.
Defeat or not, Columbus got some senior leadership from Oakley Koontz and Robert Hartford. Koontz scored eight points along with 12 rebounds and two blocks, while Hartford. scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Koontz hasn't dropped below two blocks for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Jaireus joshua (jj) Johnson, who scored seven points.
Carver's victory bumped their record up to 17-2. As for Columbus, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carver will take on the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Crisp County is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. As for Columbus, they will be playing at home against the Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Dougherty is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
