MaxPreps is pleased to announce that the
South Iredell Vikings have officially been named to the 11th Annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard, which is in its sixth year honoring volleyball.
This is one of the most prestigious team awards in all of high school sports and it is an exclusive honor reserved for the top 100 teams nationwide. In order to be eligible, a team must win a state championship and be highly ranked in the MaxPreps National Rankings. For volleyball, only 10 of the country's best are invited and with nearly 20,000 competing varsity teams. This puts the Huskies ahead of 99.9 percent of their opponents!
No. 4 South Iredell swept No. 2 Asheboro in straight sets (25-14, 25-11, 25-9) on Nov. 7 and captured the
2015 NCHSAA 3A state title. The Vikings completed their season with an overall record of 27-1, with 22 shutout wins and an overall set record of 82-9.
Not only were they ranked nationally, but they also finished No. 1 in Class 3A and No. 1 in North Carolina. Additionally, they were named the North Piedmont Conference and Western Regional Champions.
These incredible season achievements have earned South Iredell an invitation to the 6th Annual Volleyball Tour of Champions.
Please join us as we celebrate with the Vikings team, head coach Megan Skouby, students and fans on Wednesday, Dec. 16 at 12:30 p.m. during the sports assembly in the gym.
