Basketball Recap: Archbishop Bergan Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Peyton Langhorst and Claire Mlnarik

Archbishop Bergan was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Guardian Angels Central Catholic Bluejays, falling 44-24. The Knights were probably out for revenge after losing 36-33 to them when the teams met back in January of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Archbishop Bergan's loss came despite strong showings from Claire Mlnarik and Peyton Langhorst. Mlnarik posted five points and five steals, while Langhorst earned two points and seven boards. Mlnarik is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Even though they lost, Archbishop Bergan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Archbishop Bergan's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Guardian Angels Central Catholic, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.

Archbishop Bergan wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 40-36 defeat against North Bend Central on the 18th. As for Guardian Angels Central Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 55-46 win against Boone Central on the 17th.
