While it was all tied up 27-27 at halftime, the Roaring Fork Rams were not quite the Grand Valley Cardinals's equal in the second half on Tuesday. Roaring Fork fell 61-53 to Grand Valley. Roaring Fork was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Grand Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Roaring Fork's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kiko Pena, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 19 rebounds. Pena has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. Ethan Wilson was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Grand Valley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Porter Ostermiller, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ostermiller has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Horner, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
Roaring Fork has fallen quite a ways from their 17-7 record last season and are now at 3-8. As for Grand Valley, their win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roaring Fork will take on Olathe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Grand Valley, they will head out on the road to take on Cedaredge at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cedaredge is on a three-game streak of home losses, Grand Valley a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change.
