The Woonsocket Villa Novans lost against the Classical Purples back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Woonsocket was dealt a 92-41 defeat at the hands of Classical. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Woonsocket in their matchups with Classical: they've now lost six in a row.
Woonsocket lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Demetri Brin, who scored five points along with nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Brin pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Kelly, who scored ten points.
Woonsocket dropped their record down to 4-14 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Classical, the win (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 19-1.
Woonsocket won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Portsmouth at 6:00 p.m. on February 8th. One thing working in Portsmouth's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matchups. As for Classical, they will head out on the road to square off against Westerly at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Classical is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Westerly in Rhode Island (Classical is ranked first, while Westerly is ranked 27th).
