The Providence-St. Mel Knights won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. They took a serious blow against Ida Crown Jewish Academy, falling 64-13. Providence-St. Mel was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-8.
It was another big night for Ilana Schwartz, who scored 27 points for Ida Crown Jewish Academy. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Schwartz has scored at least a third of Ida Crown Jewish Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordana Zwelling, who scored eight points.
Providence-St. Mel's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Ida Crown Jewish Academy, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 10-3.
Providence-St. Mel will play host again and welcome Cristo Rey Jesuit, where tip off is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Ida Crown Jewish Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Josephinum at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
