The Oakwood Panthers will be playing at home against the Avalon Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Oakwood will be strutting in after a victory while Avalon will be coming in after a loss.
Last Tuesday, Oakwood beat Penelope 37-28. The win made it back-to-back wins for Oakwood.
It was another big night for Jacee Youngblood, who scored 22 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Rai'Miaya Winston, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Avalon unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 56-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Milford.
Oakwood is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. As for Avalon, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-6.
Oakwood ended up a good deal behind Avalon when the teams last played back in December of 2023, losing 48-31. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Avalon's Brooklyn De La Garza, who scored 27 points. Now that Oakwood knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
