Lynn Classical has gone 8-2 against Medford recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Rams will be playing at home against the Mustangs at 4:15 p.m. Lynn Classical's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Medford's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Lynn Classical fell victim to Revere and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 1-0. That makes it the first time this season the Rams have let down their home crowd.
Meanwhile, Medford had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Highlanders by a score of 6-1. The game was the first time the Mustangs have beaten the Highlanders on their field since May 21, 2019.
Travers Moodie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up seven Ks. Medford is undefeated when Moodie allows one or fewer earned runs, but 2-4-1 otherwise.
At the plate, David Crohan was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Micheal Piccolo, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Medford's victory bumped their record up to 6-4-1. As for Lynn Classical, their loss dropped their record down to 7-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lynn Classical has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Medford struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Lynn Classical beat Medford 5-2 in their previous matchup on April 10th. Do the Rams have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
