Kerman is 0-5 against Kingsburg since April of 2023 but things could change on Friday. The Lions will welcome the Vikings at 6:30 p.m. Kerman is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Kerman took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Reedley by a score of 9-6. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won three in a row.
Eliza Garcia looked comfortable as she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Kymberly Higuerada was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Jayanna Gonzales was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Kingsburg and Selma had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Vikings blew past the Bears 7-1 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Vikings have posted against the Bears since May 2, 2019.
Alyanna 'Yaya' Gonzales spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 16 Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mariah Contreras, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Scarlett Laita, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Kerman's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 9-5. As for Kingsburg, their win bumped their record up to 9-11.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Kerman has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Kingsburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Kerman came up short against Kingsburg in their previous matchup on April 1st, falling 5-0. Will the Lions have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
