The Zeigler-Royalton Tornadoes were the 65-49 winner over the Egyptian Pharaohs when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Zeigler-Royalton was just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 62-61 to the Pharaohs. Zeigler-Royalton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Zeigler-Royalton's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of River Freeman, who scored 17 points, and Peyton Foster who scored 16 points. Chase VanHoorebeke was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Egyptian was led to victory by Damarion Clark and Brandon Plott. Clark scored 25 points, while Plott went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and 3 assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which Clark has scored at least a third of Egyptian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendrick Williams, who scored two points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Zeigler-Royalton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-16 record this season. As for Egyptian, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-19.
Zeigler-Royalton will head out on the road to take on the Pioneers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Trico is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for Egyptian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Redskins at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Illinois (Shawnee is ranked 751st, while the Pharaohs are ranked 769th).
