The Bishop Moore Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the Kathleen Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Moore is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.
Bishop Moore put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lake Buena Vista 56-7 at home. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-0.
Bjorn Jurgensen was his usual excellent self, throwing for 205 yards and three touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes, and also punching in two touchdowns on the ground. William Jusme also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Lake Buena Vista to a paltry 83 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Bishop Moore's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out three times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Jake Kreul and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Kathleen fell victim to Lakeland's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the Dreadnaughts, falling 37-0. While losing is never fun, Kathleen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 342nd, while Lakeland is ranked 27th).
Bishop Moore's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.8 points per game. As for Kathleen, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.
Everything came up roses for Bishop Moore against Kathleen in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 45-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bishop Moore since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
