After six games on the road, Van Horn is heading back home. They will take on Non Varsity Tournament Opponent at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Van Horn focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Van Horn beat Rankin 35-24.
Van Horn's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Gio Corralez led the charge by scoring 12 points along with 4 steals. Corralez hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Joey Anchondo, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Non Varsity Tournament Opponent was the victim of a tough 54-28 loss at the hands of Woodson on Saturday.
Van Horn is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. As for Non Varsity Tournament Opponent, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 23-72 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Van Horn against Non Varsity Tournament Opponent when the teams last played back in December of 2022 as the team secured a 75-7 victory.
