On Tuesday, Perry County Central got the win against Martin County by a conclusive 10-1. The win continues a trend for the Commodores in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won three in a row.
Tate Watts made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Mason Sumner was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Devin Gayhart, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Perry County Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Martin County only posted a batting average of .042.
Knott County Central typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Letcher County Central proved too difficult a challenge. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Patriots. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Cougars have posted against the Patriots since April 21, 2022.
Andrew Little spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Dawson Kincer, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Quentin Williams was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Letcher County Central is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Perry County Central, their win bumped their record up to 10-14.
