Brookfield Central hasn't had much luck against Germantown recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Lancers will welcome the Warhawks at 4:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Brookfield Central 3.2, Germantown 1.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Tuesday, Brookfield Central needed a bit of extra time to put away Brookfield East. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Spartans, sneaking past 3-2. The three-run effort marked the Lancers' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Ellie Brand was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over ten innings while giving up just two earned runs off ten hits. Brand was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
In other batting news, Maya Fall was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Germantown put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over Divine Savior Holy Angels. The result was nothing new for the Warhawks, who have now won five contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Emersyn Coulter and Kennedy Bennett did most of the damage at the plate: Coulter went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs, while Bennett went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Coulter has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Julia Sina, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Germantown's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Brookfield Central, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Both Brookfield Central and Germantown just can't seem to miss. The Lancers have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Germantown struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Brookfield Central might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from Germantown when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Lancers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
