For the first time this season, Los Gatos will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sacred Heart Prep Gators at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Los Gatos easily dispatched Burlingame back in September, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Wildcats fell just short of Pittsburg by a score of 30-27 on Friday. The contest marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Despite the defeat, Los Gatos got top-tier performance from Callum Schweitzer, who threw for 259 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 46 yards and two touchdowns. Devonte Troutt was another key player, picking up 108 receiving yards and one score.
Meanwhile, Sacred Heart Prep came tearing into last Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7 points), and they left with even more momentum. They came within four points of losing the streak, but they secured a 31-27 W against the Scots. Given the Gators' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 216th, while the Scots are ranked 660th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sacred Heart Prep's win came from a few key players Los Gatos will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Nico Pollioni, who threw for 200 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 76.9% of his passes. What's more, he racked up 157.9 passer rating, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Cooper Karros helped Pollioni out on the ground, rushing for 72 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries.
Sacred Heart Prep's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Los Gatos, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Los Gatos has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 409.6 total yards per game. It's a different story for Sacred Heart Prep, though, as they've been averaging only 231.8 total yards. Will Los Gatos be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Gators flip the script?
Everything came up roses for Los Gatos against Sacred Heart Prep in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 42-10 victory. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Gators turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
