After a string of three wins, The Cusick Panthers''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. The matchup between Cusick and Curlew wasn't particularly close, with Cusick falling 46-30. Cusick was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Curlew apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2021.
Curlew got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Luke Doyen out in front who picked up 114 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Thompson, who rushed for 49 yards and three touchdowns.
Cusick's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Curlew, their win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cusick will face off against Wellpinit at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Curlew, they will head out on the road to face off against Wilbur-Creston-Keller at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Wilbur-Creston-Keller's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season.
