Meadow is 2-8 against Whitharral since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Meadow Broncos will be playing in front of their home fans against the Whitharral Panthers at 7:30 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Meadow has struggled recently with ten losses in a row, while Whitharral will arrive with four straight victories.
Last Friday, Meadow lost to Anton on the road by a decisive 50-34 margin.
Meanwhile, Whitharral put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Amherst 62-33 at home. Given Whitharral's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 585th, while Amherst is ranked 1463rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Whitharral to victory, but perhaps none more so than Nathaniel Sansom, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Jack Griffin was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five assists and two steals.
Meadow bumped their record down to 1-10 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Whitharral, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.
Meadow came up short against Whitharral in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 58-51. Can Meadow avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
