The Independence Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their ninth straight loss. They took a 49-33 bruising from Copper Canyon. Independence has not had much luck with Copper Canyon recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Bri'ann Felix continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Copper Canyon, dropping a double-double on 37 points and 11 rebounds. Felix is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Zalaya Dupre was another key contributor, almost dropping a triple-double on nine points, ten rebounds, and ten steals.
Independence's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-14. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.6 points per game. As for Copper Canyon, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 9-11 record this season.
Independence won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Kofa at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Kofa is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for Copper Canyon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Youngker at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
